November 1st (article by BK Jimenez) - The wind stopped whooshing, the predicted shower of flurries chose to happen outside GTA, the stillness of the crisp cool evening all seemed to give way to pomp and glitter. Oh what a Night! ’Twas a jampacked gala room at Crystal Fountain when everyone came in Black and White. A grand celebration of united Filipinos in their adopted home in Markham, Ontario. Highlighting the event was the participation of the youth and the seniors through song and dance numbers. A brief seamless display of entertainment. Nonstop dancing followed - everyone gyrated to hits from the 60s to present, staying alive and upbeat.
Indeed, we are proud of the 30 years of distinct and solid participation of Pinoy community service.
As Mayor Frank Scarpitti said, “Our diversity is our strength, we are united by our shared values of democracy, equality and respect for all and grateful to the Filipinos who work tirelessly to enrich the lives of many in our community.”
Congratulations to the entire roster led by Yolanda Ladines and Arthur Canseco. Not to be ignored are the pillars and founders led by former councilor Alex Chiu, the last remarkable accomplishment was the recent creation of the plaza for our national hero Jose Rizal whose monument now stands as an awe-inspiring reminder of his greatness.
We thank everyone who made this affair a big success. Thanks too to the presence of our very own Consul General, Ron Castro. To view more photos of the event, click here.
